From Rediscovering America - How the National Holidays Tell an Amazing Story about Who We Are. Scott Powell. 2022. Kindle online sample. Section 2.

What does it mean to be an American?
Although the answer for each will likely be different because subjectivity is shaped by unique experience and understanding, almost no one would refer to the United States as “just another nation.”
The concept of “America” has always carried big and positive attributes.
EVEN REPRESSIVE AND EVIL REGIMES INDIRECTLY PAY TRIBUTE TO AMERICA’S UNIQUE STATURE IN THE WORLD BY SINGLING OUT THE UNITED STATES above all other nations as the target of their greatest hatred and condemnation.
From the first settlers to today’s immigrants arriving at America’s shores and borders four hundred years later, THE MYTHIC SENSE OF AMERICA AS BEING A PLACE OF REFUGE AND SANCTUARY, A LAND OF SECOND CHANCES, RENEWAL, AND NEW BEGINNINGS, a place of unexplored frontiers with unlimited possibilities, has remained remarkably persistent, providing a unique and powerful optimism.
No one can say when exactly the modern age began, but it was clearly tied to the Reformation, the Renaissance, and the Scientific Revolution, which had their roots in fourteenth- and fifteenth-century Europe.
And few would disagree of all the countries in the world, AMERICA HAS THE UNIQUE STATUS OF BEING THE FIRST MODERN COUNTRY.
The Reformation and Renaissance set in motion spiritual and cultural awakenings as well as an unusual concentration of human genius and extraordinary wisdom that culminated in the birth of the United States in the eighteenth century.
Dedicated to the rule of law, separation of powers and limited government, and accountability to its citizens whose RIGHTS WERE NATURAL AND GOD-GIVEN AND THUS UNALIENABLE AND NOT SUBJECT TO INFRINGEMENT BY THE STATE, the United States was truly a revolutionary model that subsequently influenced other nations worldwide well into the twentieth century.
The reformation of church corruption and pursuit of spiritual truth promoted by Martin Luther in the early sixteenth century had its analog with the pursuit of truth regarding the physical universe by contemporary Nicolaus Copernicus (1473-1543), who is credited as a key founder of the scientific revolution.
COPERNICUS’S EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE AND REASONING UPSET THE PREVAILING GEOCENTRIC VIEW THE EARTH WAS THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE with the heliocentric model that took its place—placing the sun at the center, with the earth and other planets orbiting it.
It also laid the foundation for celestial navigation, enabling Columbus and successor explorers to cross thousands of miles of ocean and arrive at a predetermined destination, which facilitated the colonization of the coast that would become the first thirteen states in the United States.
Copernicus, followed by Kepler, Galileo, Bacon, Newton, and more, were key figures in the scientific revolution that expanded the frontiers of understanding the physical universe.
Collectively, THEY GAVE BIRTH TO THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD, WHICH BECAME THE MOST RELIABLE AND POWERFUL MEANS OF PUSHING THE ENVELOPE OF DISCOVERY and invention through hypothesis testing that involved compiling and rationally evaluating empirical evidence and results to arrive at facts.
WHAT WAS STRIKING ABOUT THE MODERN AGE COMPARED WITH PREVIOUS PERIODS WAS THE SPEED AT WHICH PROGRESS WAS MADE.
Coming on the heels of the Middle Ages, which encompassed nearly seven hundred years of a feudal social order, punctuated toward the end with the bubonic plague in the mid fourteenth century, the modern age made rapid progress applying science and harnessing innovation and discovery, reviving and pursuing cultural excellence, and addressing and solving people’s common needs and problems.
However, we can’t say the rapid material progress of America has been accompanied by as much in terms of spiritual and social progress.
In fact, IT IS QUITE APPARENT IN CONTEMPORARY AMERICA, THERE IS LITTLE CORRELATION BETWEEN MATERIAL WEALTH AND ABUNDANCE ON THE ONE HAND AND HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT ON THE OTHER.
The American story is of course still being written, but many of its past historical accomplishments were ultimate achievements, such as
-the drafting of its founding principles and governing documents conceived by a remarkable group of statesmen
-a Civil War that was America’s most costly war, but succeeded in preserving the union and ending slavery
-a civil rights movement that accomplished the ideals set forth in the Declaration of Independence and completed the work of Lincoln to make equal opportunity for blacks and minorities a reality
THESE ACTS AND EVENTS REPRESENT A SORT OF FINALITY, BUT THEY ARE ALSO SUBJECT TO BEING STRENGTHENED OR WEAKENED by what subsequent generations do.
While people’s standard of living has been greatly improved and their longevity significantly increased, MANY AMERICANS NOW SEEM OBLIVIOUS TO HOW WE GOT HERE.
The incredible benefits attributable to the application of both the scientific method and the spiritual truths of Judeo-Christian heritage are increasingly taken for granted at best.
At worst, they are viewed as unnecessary, even obsolete.
We have to a large degree lost our guiding national narrative.
For about the last two and a half generations, there has been a subtle but growing assault on most of the values that were previously considered the bedrock of American society.
Many older Americans today hardly recognize the country of their childhood.
While technological progress has proceeded at a rapid pace, providing convenience, efficiency, and higher standards of material living, THE FOUNDATIONAL INSTITUTIONS OF AMERICAN SOCIETY HAVE BEEN IN CONCURRENT DECLINE — the family, educational institutions, manners and civility, respect for law and order, and merit-based outcomes.
HOW IS IT SO MANY AMERICANS HAVE ALLOWED INSTITUTIONS AND NORMS TO BE UNDERMINED THAT WERE THE BASIS FOR ALMOST ALL OUR PRIOR SUCCESS?
And how could this happen after the United States stood decisively with the forces of good—helping the Allied powers to win two world wars, defeating Hitler’s fascism and then the Soviet Communist empire?
The answers to these questions, which follow, may be difficult and depressing for some readers to face.

Section 1:
“We have experienced a progression of events and a continuing orchestration of even more radical measures that put all of that at grave risk.”
“George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, both believed if the United States should falter and be defeated, it would come not from an invasion from overseas, but rather from within, undoubtedly with the help of foreign ideologies and foreign adversaries.”
Zat imminent defeat being implemented by dem leftist misery-wuvvers with the help of Xi-China.

Section 2:
“How is it so many Americans have allowed institutions and norms to be undermined that were the basis for almost all our prior success?”
The answer be it’s oll due to We standing around and allowing the current rise of Marxism.
Fundamentally Marxism = everything bad is good, everything good is bad, truths are lies, lies are truths = wokeism = negation = dead Old world road to total misery, desired by half of people here and everywhere, past present future.
